Hi all, I'm another member from Sydney, Australia.

I have just taken delivery of a brand spankin' new Bradley 6 Rack Smoker. I bought the extra tall unit as I like doing full leg hams. I've now got to work out how to hang something like 10kgs from the top centre where the vent is. I'll have to put on my thinking cap for a few days.

I'm really looking forward to this forum. :)

Welcome to the forum and good luck on your future smoking.

I've seen some guys create a wooden rack system to hang sausages from.  It looks like a ladder and slides in horizontally like the metal racks.  That might work for you.

hello and welcome to the forum. A lot of us take the vent completely off so I'm sure you could just put a piece of 1/2" pipe across the top and hang it from there

I had a look at the vent and noticed that the screw that holds the vent together had a few threads not doing too much, so I machined up a piece of stainless steel, ran a 5mm metric thread into it and welded a little stainless hook on the end.

All done  :) I'm rather pleased with that.

Great idea!. When it is fully tested can you report back how much weight it can bear, and with the weight pulling down, does that effect the movement of the vent?

welcome aboard and  nice mod, just be sure you spread the  weight  out across the top of the box  some and not leave all the weight on the  vent , my only  concern is the vent opening may not be strong enough to hand 10 kgs for long extended times and repeated use,,,,

again  welcome aboard and nice mod

The movement of the vent is controlled by how tight the main screw is tensioned. So, what I did was tighten the screw until I was satisfied with the operation of the vent and then tightened the hook section onto the bottom of the screw.
