pucks only burn about halfway thru then advance

Habanero Smoker

Hi lsanders;

Welcome to the forum.

From the post of many members this is not unusual. If it is really severe there could be several reasons for this. If none of the below problems seem to be your problem, then consider the half burnt bisquettes normal.

1- Make sure your bisquette burner is clean. Debris build up on the burner pad will interfere with the burn rate.

2- Humidity content of the bisquette can slow the burn rate. Make sure you store you bisquettes in a moisture proof container after the package is opened. Never  leave or store bisquettes in the feeder tube. Even when you take these precautions, if you live in an area of high humidity, you may still encounter this problem.

3- Not enough wattage is getting to your burner. Your burner plate should reach around 550°F. If you have an infrared thermometer check the temperature. Make sure there are not too many appliances on the same circuit.

4- Sometimes Bradley will change how much they will compress their bisquettes. When they are compressed really tight, they will burn much slower.

5- You can check the time cycle to see if it is approximately 20 minutes. If it is far less than 20 minutes I would contact Bradley.

Question - Does this occur with all briquettes flavors, or just certain flavors. If so, is there any difference in compression. Which means, are some bisquettes flakey, and others more "solid" and feel heavier.
