Just found out that there is a new Famous Daves BBQ that just opened up last week in Vista, California.  I wasn't able to make it to the one in Nashville so will have to make a trip over to Vista this weekend to check out the "Q".

I canceled the trip to Famous Daves after getting a tip from the bus driver/tour guide, to skip the city folk BBQ and try a place right across the main road from the hotel and in back of the place called Cooters (from Dukes of Hazard with the General Lee parked in front).  All of their BBQ had a good heavy smoke flavor.  The ribs were good, tender, but definatly not falling off the bone.  Their sauce was a little sweet and a little tangy but no attitued.  Iceman is still tops in sauce.  The brisket was tuff and dry with no real flavor other than the smoke flavor.  The pulled pork was tender but lacked flavor as well.  The pulled chicken was , ah was, well there was a lot of it and it pretty much all stayed on the plate.  The sausage was tasty.

Now the best treat was, deep fried pickles!!!!!!!!

WCK,
Are you up for a break from the piggy this weekend for a lunch or dinner at the new Famous Daves?  Time to break out the comparision notes to the BS tried and true.

Love to Gizmo, but will have to be out a week. The piggy is Saturday with errands backed up (Holly was in Hospital a couple of times so we spent a lot of time there with her - almost good again now, no worry). Anyway then Sunday is booked with Church day of service. We will be renovating the Operaton Hope shelter in Vista. Next weekend is free though... not saying you gotta wait for me, you can go twice?

The following weekend sounds good.  Will be spending this week trying to get the Poway house ready for sale.  The vacation last week put us back another week and as you know, the longer you wait, the more payments you have to make that you don't get back.  Kind of sad to sell our first house but not knowing what the job situation is, doesn't make sense to risk losing it if my job goes away.  Anyway I'll let you know.

Order the Rib and Meat combo with brisket!  You can order a 3rd meat for like $3 extra, I recommend the smoked ham.

SAVE ROOM FOR PECAN PIE!!!

Wish we had a good Q joint up here besides me  ;D
