Smoking pals, I also put in the new slide temp. control when I got my raptor and guru.  After installing I could not get the temp. in the box above 250 degrees according to the thermometer in the door when the slide is all the way to the right. Now will I ever cook at 250 degrees? NOPE. I was working on the BS in the garage and I did use a regular extension cord which I don't do outside. The temp. would go to 250 degrees then go down and then back up. I never opened the door and this was over a 3 hour period of time. My question is what is the maximum temp. it should reach inside the BS? THANKS for any ideas!

Bradley advertises 320 degrees F maximum temperature. I would not trust the door thermometer, it's not that accurate. I would use the Maverack to check the internal temperatures.

It is not the fault of the thermometer. There is a hi-temp cut off switch which operates around 220. The smpker will cycle from around 220 and then drop to around 140 and will just keep doing this until you lower the slide switch. I have tried to get bradely to change this but they won't. The smoker will never reach the 320 they advertise, and they won't fix it.

I've seen your other post, and you haven't explained what you are using to monitor the cabinet temperature. If very few are having your problem, then it may be a problem with your particular unit. I frequently take my smoker above 250°F for preheating, and it has never cut off. It looks like you have a faulty hi-limit sensor. They are designed to cut off at around 300°F - 320°F. Chances are if that is replaced your unit will operate correctly.

I get mine up to 300 all the time with no problems. I think Habs is spot on with the bad high limit sensor. It's worth the try IMO.
