Just got my new 6 rack digital smoker this past Saturday. I plugged it in and got an E1 error code right away. I could not get it to clear. I went online and searched google and had seen that other people have had the same problem. They said that the sensor cable does not make a good connection, try reversing the cable. I did and finally got it to clear the E1 code and was able to put it throught a seasoning cycle for a few hours.
Later that night, I had bought a brisket that i wanted to smoke over night, so i put in the meat started the smoker, and again the E1 code appeared. I unplugged and plugged the sensor cable back in a few times and after about 5 minutes, I finally got the code to clear. Needless to say I bought this thing so I wouldn't have to babysit the heat all night, but I got up about every hour anyway to make sure the E1 code did not reappear.

Is there a fix for this? :'(

Hi smkdhog & welcome to the forum.

Although this is not a solution but what I've experienced is when I first got mine I had a couple of the E1 errors. What I found was after playing with the plugs a bit, un-plugging & re-plugging several times, it has never happened again. I really wonder if it is just a question of small plastic burrs or something like that in the connector itself. What ever the reason it seems it can be an issue from new but seems to remidy itself in a brief time. If it happens more I would phone Bradley about it in any case.

You could go to Radio Shack and get a longer sensor cable since you're gonna need it any way for cold smoking  ;D while waiting for Bradley to replace yours.

Thanks Motor Mouth, I think I like your idea better... Just called the local Radio Shack and they have it all in stock...

Thanks Again ;D

I use to switch between the Radio Shack cable and the Bradley cable then got tire of changing or looking for the other cord in the drawer.  I just leave the Radio Shack cable on and never needed to change it or disconnect it when changing to a cold smoke setup.

Glad to help.  I learned a monster load from reading here and am looking forward to paying some of it back.
