I agree 100 percent.  Habs would be perfect, but he has indicated that his time is limited.  I am sure he would agree to act as a consultant if he decides not to moderate.  This is the ONLY forum I have been a part of and therefore have no idea on much work/time being a moderator entails.  All we can do is give it our best shot.  I do not know how many people can act as moderator, but more than one or two would be nice.

I agree WildCat, having a few mods is better. Makes resolving any problems easier when you can bounce scenarios off other people first, etc.

It really is a great group here and the fact that there hasn't been a moderator, or at least an active one, speaks volumes of the great group of members here.

Mr. Walleye and Wildcat get my vote. Does anyone know exactly what the duties of a moderator on a forum like this entail? I would think that Bradley has someone who keeps an eye out for inappropriate content since it could affect their image. Are there "hidden" moderators?? Just wondering.

This depends upon Admin. Generally there are two levels. A regular moderator who in empowered to edit out any offense post. Gives warning. Then there are the super or global moderators. They can be empowered to ban a member and in some cases they decide who may join a community. Both levels can Pin a posting as well.

Generally no moderator is empowered so that they have access to the back of the forums. i.e. setting up a new forum posting board. Nor can they do mass E-mailing to the members.

I don't believe so. If there were then members would be asking what happen to my post? I say this as in the past year I've seen a couple of questionable postings.

One of the major requirements for a moderator is having  common sense thinking.  In other communities I have seen a new moderator after a few month become a demigod and run members off.

For the most part IMO a moderator is a boring, thankless job.
