I'm doing a batch of chicken wraps for this weekend and saw this on Mr. Food and adapted it for the smoker

2 tablespoons dried onion soup mix
4 teaspoons water
3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
4 cubed steaks (about 6 ounces each)
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 can (4 ounces) sliced mushrooms, drained
4 slices of provolone cheese (or whatever ya like)
20 slices of bacon

In a small bowl, combine the onion soup mix and water. Let stand for 5 minutes.

Stir the mustard into the onion mixture. Season the steaks with the pepper and spread the mustard-onion mixture over one side of each steak. Arrange the sliced mushrooms over the top , then your slice of cheese roll up  with bacon just like the chicken wraps and secure each roll with a toothpick.

Into the smoker at 220 for 2 1/2 to 3 hours with about an hours worth of smoke - Mesquite of course  ;D  Here they are about to go into the smoker!

They look awesome, WTS.  Just wondering why you would only coat one side of the beef versus both.  ANy particular reason?

Wow! Mr. Food is still on television. He and Rachel Ray (at different times of course); started their careers on a local television station located in Schenectady, NY.

Looks great and a great idea.  ;)
One thing I would have to change would be the mushrooms, I do not know why everyone in the family loves mushrooms but me.  ???  :P
I think instead of fungi I will try fire roasted red peppers or something along that line.  :)

I'm with you, Pens.  This idea looks great WTS.  Thanks for posting.

West Coast Kansan

Great post, lots of stuffing options as well.  I finally found something to use the mesquite for besides seasoning the smoker  ;D Great meal and easy like the chicken wraps.   :)

Ok, WTS... this is enough for me to unwrap a virgin box of Mesquite! I'm hooked on Hickory myself, but that looks fantastic!
