Smoked Cherry Crisp

Here is another dessert i am trying.

Smoked cherry crisp. The recipe will follow.

Smoked with 2 pucks of oak for 40 mins at 300* Continue with just heat until top is golden.

8x8 foil pans


top cherries with the dry yellow cake mix


melt 1 stick of unsalted butter and pour over cake mix. Use a spoon to spread butter over mix.


once the butter is covered over cake mix i put more mix over the butter. Then put in smoker


You can finish in the oven if you like. I will post finished pics  ;D

Recipe

1 box yellow cake mix
1 stick butter unsalted  (salted butter OPT)
1 can cherry filling

Spoon apple or cherry pie filling in 8x8 or 10x10 foil cake pan. Sprinkle dry cake mix over top. Cover completely.
Melt butter in saucepan or microwave. Spoon over entire top of cake mix. Spread with butter spoon gently. Repete (OPT)

Bake in a 350 degree oven Or smoker untill browned, about 20 to 25 minutes.

Let completely cool.

Dang Nepas, I think I put on 5 lbs everytime you do one of your dessert dishes!  Looks great can't wait to see the end result!

Here is the finished cherry crisp. I think maybe next time i will add 1 1/2 cans of cherries. It sunk down some.
40 mins of smoke then 45 mins of just heat.
