:'( Terrible thing to go through, GolfNut....Haven't been to your place but after 35+ years as a firefighter, I can probably describe the scene/smell/sorrow pretty accurately. (I've also been "victim" of fire loss on three different occasions w/ vehicle, house, and forest fires destroying possessions.)  A house fire is a tragedy that changes lives even when everyone gets out okay. From the sounds of your post, you will no doubt be strong and rebuild/replace but there will be times in the future when you can't seem to find something and then remember that it was likely lost in the fire. If you were my neighbor, I'd give you one of my spare Bradleys to keep you smoking. But, since shipping such things from Alaska is probably pretty close to the price of buying new locally, so I'll give you this cheap but career/life seasoned advice that I haven't read on this thread yet.....when you rebuild, add residential fire sprinklers....easy, cheap, and will prevent future fire losses. You can live right next door to your fire station and STILL not have fire protection as good as fire sprinklers (although sprinklers just look down at you if you're having a heart attack, so don't close your local fire station!  ;) )  Prayer for quick recovery, and thankfulness for no loss of life, have been said!

Its amazing what one can accomplish when one doesn't know what one can't do!

GolfNut

Thank you all for the kind words of support. Belive us, they help and are needed.

It's funny, in the hotel room I looked up and saw the water system in the room and told my wife "our new house will have these!" so we're already thinking on that household fire system.

We'll keep in touch.

Some people are like Slinkies... They're really good for nothing.
...But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

Really sorry to hear Golfnut. Glad to hear no one was injured.

Man, talk about irony: I was digging through the rubble and found the remains of my Bradley when I saw the mail truck pull up. Walked over to him, he looks at the mess, shakes his head and hands me a package. It was the new Maverick ET73 I ordered from Bryan at Yardand Pool on tuesday.

I couldn't even open the box.

Thats just weird.
