Hey all when you do a search on this site if the red high-light annoys you as much as it does me there is a simple solution to this problem.

In this address you will see the red high-lighted words.

In the address below you will see the same posting but you will also see where I have removed everything after the TOPIC_ID=502 in the above address. Thus the search feature is removed from the string and red high-light is gone.

I know this is just a little thing, but that red bugs me~~~!

Olds,,,,Don't EVER leave this forum.....It's GREAT to have someone with "E-Brains" to guide some of us old "E-Farts" through this digital realm! THANX!! [:)]

Crazy thing about that red banner is that, when I first started using the search feature, I thought the red banner was a link or something but it wouldn't do ANYTHING when I clicked the "Fickle Finger" on it. It was one of those forehead slapping "DUH!" moments when I realized that it was just highlighting the word that I had just searched for.....sometimes I wonder HOW I find my way down to my own boat, let alone out to the "secret" fishings spots [|)][;)][:D]

NP! I got a feeling that we are not that too far apart in age. You got remember that on my gaming site in its hay-day those kids showed me a lot of stuff. Otherwise, I would be raising my hand and saying... May I join the "E-Farts" Multi-Smoking-Community (Clan)!

Hopefully when Ghost Recon 2 comes out for the PC my group will again find a common game. At the moment we are playing so many differant games that only the DoW handle is common.

I will rag that DoW-Unknown got with some group in another game and really showed what the DoW was about in a ranking match. Not to mention I got with thee The Last Hope Group as a back up for MechWarrior matches and I remember one match for ranking where TLH Praug and myself (DoW-Oldman) brought home the bacon out of a field of 16. That night this Ole man and Praug, told them to give their names and to take a number. When we were done there was nothing but used damaged Mechs for sale!

Ok rag time is almost over. I know it sound kind-of crazy but gaming is a great sport. I can almost hear those who have never competed in their entire life laughing at this statement. For guys like me who in their best day were only 5'8-1/2", 140 pounds and today are only 5' 8" and a little heavier gaming levels the playing field against those who born to be huge. Coming out on top in online matches is not about how fast you can run, how far you can throw a ball, or how big your arms are. It about how fast your brain is.

If you have never seen a Mech this one is my favorite. She is called a Hellbringer. A fast 65 ton Mech. She carried twin large pulse lasers. Below them two stand medium lasers. Two Auto Cannons 10 on her hips. On her top she carried a radar-anti missle system. On both sides of her chest she could open up and there would be two long range Missles system. She also carried 6 jump jets and man could she fly. She also would carry enough heat sinks to control the heat (lasers) unless you got crazy. Her arms were thin and hard to hit, and her legs were heavy with armor and "legging" her was tough to do. We would go through the 100 ton mechs like butter melting on hot toast. She could be configured to carry just about any weapon systems. The above config took me about a week to work out. Funny the Hellbringer was not the most often used mech. There was one that had 5 tons more to work with that most used. Nevertheless, more times then not they would go by the way side as well.

Anyway this is what she looks like:

Ok rag time is over and getting back to the point; if it was not for these kids I would be as lost as anyone. Plus believe me I don't know a lot!! There are times when I'm trying to do something and I hit wall. Then I hit the wall again. And I continue to hit the wall until I cry Uncle. Then I will ask Unk (DoW-Unknown) what am I missing? Generally he "kindly" laughs, points it out, and the damn thing is right in your face and it will not go away~~! DOH!

In closing, maybe some winter day when you are locked into your house you might join me in a game of Ghost Recon 2 when it comes out. It will require a better than average system to run. I would guess at least a P4 2.4 gig, without an on-board sound system. In other words you will have a sound card--as GR is very CPU intense. 512 of not at least 256 megs of ram. I would have to check but I'm not sure that even a G-force TI 128 meg Video Card with handle the graphics. From what I've read it will be pushing my ATI 9700 Pro card right to the wall when settings are on high.

Of course you could alway pick up the Gold Pack for GR1 and it is very cheap now. I have one friend who games it using an older 1 gig, system with a 64 meg G-force TI card. With the mods that game is still the best going IMO.

I've already got my hands (and limited brain RAM) tied up with vices....I'd be afraid to start gaming too[:0] Plus, all my computer work is on my little Mac iBook shich would probably take the thrill out of the games.

It sounds like you might like this site if you like mechs ... http://www.neogentronyx.com/ This guy is obviously committed to mechs (or should be committed to an asylum)[:D][;)][8D]
