Yesterday I made a batch of venison jerky and I noticed that the bisques were advancing.    The pusher would only come back 1/2 way some times.   Other times when I went all the way it was in a jerky motion.   I had to hang around and watch it most of the day.   At first glance it didn't look too dirty at all.  This morning I cleaned the smoke generator, took it all apart, put a little light oil on the moving parts the move the pusher.   Reassembled (got all the wires back right ;)) and tested.   It works fine now.
