I don't mind waiting - buying a store bought and waiting for it to mature/grow will pass the time slowly - after all, what else have I got to do?? ;D
Just remember 30F is the kiss of death for all pineapples.

No problemo Olds!  I'll keep it in the house next to the heater vent if I can get the dog's nose out of it first!  Seriously, my garage has yet to get below 45 so I'm good as long as I keep it indoors.

Years ago when I was a organic moderator on one of the gardening site I saw a picture of a pineapple that a person grew on the 30th or 40th floor in NYC!

Pineapples seem to fruit on a given cycle. If there is not enough sun light then the fruit will be smaller.

Nevertheless, given where you live, growing a pineapple has got to be a great conversational piece around the ole camp-fire with your neighbors.

I would suggest growing it in an Earthbox and place it in kid's wagon. If your pineapple is like mine then the last thing you ever want to do is come into contact with its leaves.  Slice / dice and stick holes in you should come to mind  ;D

Believe me I have bled more than one time due to being careless. And always where eye protection. The leaves points are eye killers.

A cactus does not have a needle sharp point with serrated edges followed up by razor sharp edges.  :o :o :o
