I've seen numerous recipes involving hot peppers and every one I have read to date say to remove the seeds.  I was wondering a couple things.  First, why do we remove the seeds?  Second, is there another recipe/cure that uses the seeds?

Some say removing the seeds reduces the heat. Others say it is the membrane on the inside.

I've not done any testing either way.

IMNSHO, I think it is more of a visual appeal thing.

I rarely remove the seeds. Most of the heat is contained in the membrane that holds the seeds. I do remove them for items like ABT's where the pepper is getting stuffed or if someone cannot handle the heat I will remove them from that recipe.

I use a jalapeno corer, when I do my peppers, to be stuffed. When cooking, the more wrinkle on the skin, the less hot it is.

Nice looking ABT rack Zep and good looking ABT's as well.

Those corers work really well. Quicker, easier and safer than trying to use a sharp knife. I found mine at the local supermarket.

Found same item at local Bass Pro shop for $15.  Went ahead and bought one.  Looking forward to giving it a try on some ABTs.
