My new OBS just got here. ;D
The instructions are rather short, which is a good thang.
My question is this...will I have to be around to push the advance button if I want to smoke longer than 1 hour?
I have it up and seasoning at the moment.
Thanks for your help here folks...really.

Welcome to the forum.

The OBS smoke genwil advance until you turn it off.

Keep your vent 3/4 to full open and total open for chicken.

Thanks CRG!
I added a couple of extra pucks on top of the 3 suggested.
I will turn the gen off after the third puck advances.

CRG has you covered.  The OBS will feed pucks until it's empty.

Turning the SG off will shut off 125 watts of heat.  You don't have to.  In any case, watch your cabinet temp.

Strongly suggest some Bubba Pucks to save your biskets.

cool beans...I can leave the unit full of 4 hours of pucks and walk away, no need to turn the SG off.
I am ordering some bubba pucks as well. Thanks folks!

My only suggestion would be that until you get those bubba pucks you'll want to go out and manually push the last puck off the burner and into the water after it's been on for 20 minutes or so.   Otherwise it will sit there and continue to burn and turn into ash.  Just take a stick or anything and push it off the burner and into the water pan and you're good to go.  Once you get three bubba pucks the last one that will be sitting on the burner will be one of those so you don't have to worry about a smoldering pile of ash.

I have a load of beef jerky in now. ;D
I will purchase the bubba pucks today!
Thanks for the help folks, one and all!

Just remember that the last two won't burn.

I'm with you on this one.  I'm a fan of that dark smokey bark.

When I got my pucks,I only got 2(don't know why-shoulda got 3 !)

I put a wood puck on top of the 2 Bubba pucks, and the extra weight pushes the last puck into the water dish-works for me!
