Adding photos to posts -- newbie help request

OK, I have yet another question...

I wanted to post pix of a recent smoke, but am baffled by the process. :P

I looked at the help screen for posts, which shows an option under "Additional Options" to browse to an attachment which you want to add to a post. 

I must have deleted that option in my account or something, because the only options I have under Addnl. Opts. are "notify me of replies" "return to this topic" "don't use smileys" and "lock this topic"

I found the "insert image" button, but it appears to only work for URL addresses. 

Is there a way to add a picture I have on my desktop?  Thanks in advance...
