Hi everyone,

I've got a friend heading down to Houston TX in a couple of days.  I'd like to give him a recommendation to a good BBQ joint.

Any recommendations?

Houston's a big city - it would help if you could pin it down a bit more.

There are a lot of decent barbecue joints in Houston, some of them large chain types that probably aren't the best but are reasonably reliable.  Goode Company is one of those that has a loyal following, here's a link

I live about 40 miles outside the city and I don't go into town for barbecue - small local outfits are generally better.

Citysearch is usually decent for ideas and reviews and can be narrowed by section of the city.

Here's one of Goode Company reviews at Citysearch

I like animals, they taste good!

I know years ago Clyde Drexler's Family had a good old Q joint.

Long lines, ate on paper, good food.

I have heard that they modernized and the food is just OK now.

A chain named Papa's makes some good q.

If I drive to Houston, I don't eat BBQ, I eat Mexican Food or Seafood.

If they want an adventure with some unbelievable atmosphere try this:

If they are going to be in the Austin area they have to go to Salt Lick

Really good ideas CRG and BLSH.  Thanks.

That aquarium place looks great.

I can't believe all the bbq places you have to choose from.  So few in Toronto.

Hey, I just heard back from my friend.  They're planning on going to Goode's.

Good stuff.

Thanks Guys.

Houston is a very good restaurant city - got about everything.  For some adventure, your friends might consider Max's Wine Dive

My favorite for seafood is Pesce - truly outstanding.

Find out where your friends will be in the Houston area and we can probably give you some other recommendations.
