Dr Pepper is 125 Years Old ....... Happy Birthday!

This year, 2010, Dr Pepper is 125 years old.

They are celebrating the event by putting out some retro pics on cans of Dr Pepper.

Also these are being made with sugar, the old fashion way.

"Dr Pepper originated at Morrison'd old corner drugstore in Waco, Tx in 1885. Charles Alderton, a young pharmacist working at the store,

They have a 6 can collection and each 12 pk has a different can.

Naw, they bend into the can. But the taste is like I remember as a kid.

We have a store that carries the 6 1/2 oz glass bottles with sugar and they are like $1.25 each.

This 12pkg was $2.50 at Target. Sweet Drink, Sweet Deal.

It's a Texas thing.  And that's a good thing!

Now for the real question - did they make the retro cans the old way with pull off tops or the new way with the tabs that bend into the can?

Kevin, you're showing your youth. On old cans, which are new fangled to begin with (~75 years old), there weren't any pull tabs.  That's why we carried "church keys" -- many stores gave them freely with a purchase of a beer to go, like they used to give matches away with a purchase of cigarettes.  Pull tabs came nearly 30 years later.

Are they really telling you to drink 3 cans of Dr P at 10 am, 2pm and 4pm???? WOW!!! I wonder what else they use to put in there besides sugar?
If I ever get around to making my own beer, that's what the label is gonna say!

Dan, yes that was there logo.  There was an old Dr. Pepper plant by my office in Dallas.  When they tore it down to make way for a new Kroger, the only thing they retained was the old clock out front with the 10, 2 and 4 on it.

Actually now that you mention it, I do remember them. Been so long I wasn't sure if they were ever on soda cans or just the juice cans.
