At least around here that is. I'll try and keep it short. Mrs RB is feeling much better and decided it was time to invade the kitchen. Tonight was spaghetti squash with alfredo shrimp and some kind of okra. The okra part is where the action took part. She took great pride in microwaving the squash , and left the rest to me. Saute the shrimp and a dish she grew up eating from her Grandmaw. Okra cooked down in oil. Here is how it went:

"How thick do you want it cut?"
"Oh, about like a pencil"
"OK, now what?"
"You put it in the pan with a little oil with some corn meal and some salt and pepper and you cook it down until it's black"
"Black???" "I'm using my Allclad not the cast iron"
"Yes, black!" "It's gonna suck! It has to be cast iron! Grandmaw used cast iron! Why can't you just use cast iron!!"
"BS!"
"Whatever"

Soooo. After all that I find out ALL you got to do is put a little oil in the pan and then throw the okra in there and use medium heat to let the okra sizzle until it is tender and take it out before it is burnt.

The fight isn't over until the winner says it is.

LOL, that's the way my mother cooked okra.

Haven't had it like that since I left home.

I may have to give that a whirl.
