My son was up this week from Atlanta, GA. were he is attending GT. One of his favorite smoked foods of mine is this burger.

We call it -  The SBCB  - Smoked Blue Cheese Burger

Smoked Blue Cheese Burger with fries and macaroni salad.

The Layers
I started with a sesame seed bun, "Smoked" pepper jack cheese, "Smoked" blue cheese burger, blue cheese, cooked mushrooms, "Smoked" bacon, lettuce, red onion, white onion and dill pickle. French fries and homemade macaroni salad.
This burger won "Best Taste Burger 2008" at the Rowan County Fair in Kentucky.

I apologize for the small amount of sides on this dish. The kids hit it hard before I could get my pic's in...

Hamburger patties - I mixed a little bbq sauce and weber's Gourmet Burger Seasoning with the hamburger and formed into patties.
Then I top with blue cheese and placed on a rack that was coated with a Non-stick spray.

I decided to use 3 hickory and 1 mesquite bisquettes

I placed the burger in the smoker using the second set of rest from the top. Will cook between 1 - 1 1/2 hours depending on the thickness of your burger.

I like to check in on these often to make sure that the juices are not landing on my heating element.
Here I decided to look in on the burgers at the one hour point.

Time to pull the burgers.

Plated!!!

Looking good...

Awesome!   What temp?  225, I assume?

Never thought of smoking a burger...   Hmmm.

Yes I try to keep it at or 225f but sometimes in this heat it will get a little hotter.
When I mix my patties together I use BBQ sauce and spices.
After forming the patties I will set them in the freezer for 15-20 minutes - this helps to keep the patty together - otherwise you risk the patty falling apart.

Nice SS, did you move on to the State Fair???

SouthernSmoked

No, my daughter was going to Morehead St. at this time and her Dorm entered this burger into the competition.

There really wasn't much competition there. Hell, Wendy's finished 3rd.

That may not be saying much for my burger.
