Hello all. I have been smoking for a short time in a small charcoal smoker and quickly realized it is a huge hassle to tend to all of the time and through the nights. I just purchased a OBS last night and am looking forward to using it. Just finding this forum before doing any smoking has given me some invaluable insight and tips. I am looking forward to smoking in my OBS and sharing my experiences with all on the forum.

Welcome to the Forum jimmyb.

You might want to look into an Auber PID which will easily control your OBS temperature.  The OBS door temp gauge has proven to be unreliable and without a PID you'll need to constantly monitor the temp and adjust the slider.  The PID does all that for you.  You might also want to look into a remote  meat and temp monitor.  I and many others use an ET-73 Maverick RediChek Wireless Remote Smoker Thermometer.
