Dave, I wouldn't tell you that, even nicely.  I was just trying to provide some insight on what your brine would lead to. I felt that the answer to your original question would depend on the nitrite levels, so all I set out to do was determine how much you had in your pork.  I had no idea what that would be when I asked or started the calculations.

One of the things about doing this at home for ourselves is that we aren't bound by the regulatory standards.  But I do think it's critically important enough for folks to understand and know what they are doing, so that they can make an informed decision.  That's all I intended to do, was help you become better informed.

As quoted from Marianski's calculations 200 ppm is equivalent to 4.2oz of Cure#1 to 1 gallon of water, which he further states 4.2oz of Cure#1 is equivalent to 6 Tablespoons, so I'm thinking the problem lies in that part of the calculation.

If that's the calculation, then I think there is a problem.  Here's what I get:

4.2 oz * .0625 = .2625 oz sodium nitrite
1 gal water = 8.33*16 = 133.3 oz
ppm sodium nitrite = 1,000,000 * 0.2625 / (133.3 + 4.2) = 1909 ppm sodium nitrite

If you neglect the weight added in the brine from the 4.2 oz I get 1969 ppm

Here's how he did it:
1 gal water = 3.785L
120g of Sodium Nitrite = 6 Tablespoons, of that only 6.26% is actually sodium nitrite, the remaining is salt so in reality it's only 7.5g of Sodium Nitrite.
7.5 * 1000 = 7500
7500 / 3.785 = 1981.5059
For a 10% pick up it would mean
1981.5059 * .10 = 198.15059 ppm.

We agree.  The only difference is the weight amount per Tbl of Cure 1 -- I use an even 6 g/ tsp, your calc uses ~ 6.7 g/tsp.  But results are the same.
