Hi

I bought a Bradley 6 rack digital smoker in November 2010.  I used it about 8 times for smoking salmon and now things are dying on it.  The element has died two days ago while smoking salmon.  I called Bradley they aresending me a new heater element which they say will be here in 3-5 days.  Since the element was dead and I still had salmon that needed to be finished I just let the pucks and puck heater do the work for me.  Now the puck pusher isn't advancing.  Is this a common problem with these things or what.  I have ordered a second element so that I will have a extra one at home when it craps out again.  Do I also have to have multiple smoke generators.  Very Frustrated right now!

Are these common problems or did I get a lemon?

Thanks for stopping by.

Call Bradley on Monday.

They will get you up and running.

Make sure everything is clean, some times the dust from the pucks will make the "pusher" stick.
Also check for any loose wires in the generator.

Hi taz and welcome to the forum.  As CRG said, call Bradley on Monday.

For reference, I've had my original Bradley smoker since August '09 and have never had a heating element or SG failure.

Re the puck feed problem: I tore my sg apart and cleaned the whole thing out a couple of times and it was still intermittent. Then my wife suggested putting a piece of door trim under the 2 legs on the sg side of the box so that the pucks are being pushed at a slight down hill angle. I haven't had a problem in 3 or 4 years. Haven't heard the end of "try the low tech solution dear" yet either.  :D

Thanks for all the feed back!

I called bradley they sent me the element and I put it in that now works great.  As for the pusher I talk to them they said pull it apart and clean it.  When I pulled it apart I noticed it was pretty clean but then I noticed that there was a clip or something missing which attached the motor pusher arm to the oin on the puser it self.  I put a snap ring on it which held it in place.  Seems to work now I will test it with a batch of ribs tonight.

Thnaks again :)

Glad to see you got that fixed. Can't wait to see how the ribs turn out.
