I just picked up a small 2.5 pound pulled pork butt from the local grocery store. My plan is to smoke for 4 hours, then put in crock pot. How long should I cook this thing considering its size?

While I'm asking questons -- does this sound like a plan?

Put carolina treat all over it. Then rub it with some butt rub. Then wrap in plastic in fridge overnight. Next morning throw in smoker at 220. After 4 hours of smoke, take it out.

Yes that does sound like a plan.  I pull them at 202-210 depending on the feel and look.

You will get some great responses soon.

Enjoy that  pork! :)

sounds good, and like SamuelG said cook it to around 200° I.T. and you are ready to go.
If you place a pan under the butt and collect the drippings and skim the fat off the rest can be added back to the pork to help keep it moist.

Thanks guys - the pulled pork is in. This is my first pulled pork test.

Once its done, just tear it apart, then skim fat from drippings and pour it all over right? Do I just add BBQ sauce to the sandwhiches or put BBQ sauce in the whole thing?

Slamdunk

I just have the sauce, or different kinds of sauces, on the side so people can put whatever amount they like on their sandwiches.

Or you can spray with apple juice to moisten, I have used beef broth, chicken broth, Balsamic vinegar, just to moisten...

Once it hits 200, can i take it out and eat it? Since its so small should I bother with FTC? Kind of hoping I can eat this for dinner. Its at 156 now and its 5:30PM. Started this mission at 11:30am which may have been too late in the day to begin in retrospect.
