Not that kind of ring.

As CRG had stating in an earlier post...We talked about how we could create a smoke ring using a Bradley.

Read all warning notices!

Well here we go...

Well the smoke is now rolling out of my 6 rack.

Ribs are in place and I will smoke for 3 to 3-1/2 hours before step 2.

I'm using the cold smoke adapter for this smoke...

as a fire box. Kingsford charcoal and Hickory wood chips. I'll also will add one Hickory Bradley Smoker Bisquettes every 40 minutes for flavor.

2 hours in and I sprayed the ribs with some apple juice.

Step 2: Started will foil and ribs...

added butter and a little brown sugar. I'm sorry no picture of the brown sugar - hands were a little sticky!!!

Wrapped and back into the smoker for 2 more hours.

Step 3: I will remove the ribs from the smoker and foil and replace back into the smoker for about 40 minutes.

Ribs out of the smoker!

No BBQ sauce added!

Now for the test! Did we achieve what we set out to accomplish??....

Maybe the same thing that happened to these...

Them sure look like some tasty ribs Southern. I will have to admit. I haven't been using foil at all on my ribs for about 6 months now!

Be careful about calling yourself and EXPERT! An ex is a has-been, and a spurt is a drip under pressure!

So here is my question...... Was the Bradley heater on during the smoking process or was all the heat coming from the charcoal and bisquettes? It was my understanding that the smoke ring was some sort of chemical reaction that had to do with the heat source.

EIther way, the ribs look great!

SouthernSmoked

I used my heating element and PID during this smoke and yes it's true about the chemical reaction.

You need a heat source hot enough to burn the wood source at a higher temperature to produce enough nitrogen dioxide that will interact with the protein to form a smoke ring!

Geez!

With or without a smoke ring those ribs are a thing of beauty.

Creating a smoke ring using the Bradley is a fun experiment.

Very Nice!
