BDS WEIRD heating with frogmats?

True I normally smoke and dry jerky with vent opened and probe below bottom tray. Which by the way I dont use my lower tray just so its away from the elements and main heat. Gives it a bigger opening at the bottom to spread heat out and stops the burned stuff too. I also measure my heat there well below the trays. Of coarse I have added trays and now have twelve. This allows me many more postions for many types of meat. Also gives me a good load with some removed.
