Well ordered to new scales and got one today. A pocket 500 gram scale for my spices. Also ordered one that goes to 11 lbs. So i'll leave my big one put a way for most things. Found the big one isn't accurate enough under half a pound. The other two are down to less then a grain. So going to use the program Pikeman sent and weight spices.Always thought about it. Just never started. The one thing i like with recipes is repeat-ability. You ca't get that every time using spoons and cups. Seams like certain things pack differently some days then others no wonder one day mine is great then another time its OK. Got this pocket one from eBay for 6.00 and boy is it accurate, has tare, weights in about 6 measurements and a 5 year warranty.

I think that will serve you well. When you weigh things accurately you know what you have put in. When you are developing a recipe, and you do not like the results that you got you can easily make adjustments to the recipe so the next time you make it you will get the results that you expect. I am all about repeatable results. When I gamble some expensive spices and meat I want to know I will like the results. I like the cost also.

LOL! No much like pikeman I require my recipes to be repeatable. I dont make near as much as him. But get mad when food isn't great that you have made before. The way spices and powders are some just pack up at times. And can throw you way off. i know you have made things just to repeat it the same way and still be different. i think we all have. Also don't make sense to me to buy a smoker to maintain the heat the way we do then not maintain your recipes. I have quite an investment in my equipment for doing meat. And if some one asks for something they tasted I made. Well if it's not the same it's embarrassing. I guess I'm pretty proud of what I make. And don't need accidents to make good stuff. So Im just improving my process and scales are about the cheapest thing Ive done it with LOL.
