New digital BS smokers in UK.

Interesting to note that the new models seem to be finished at the "front exterior" of the smoke box in a "painted brushed stainless steel look", the rest of the unit including the generator appears to be black from the pictures.

It appears the all stainless exterior models have been dropped completely?

While CS is moving forward with a PID controller that ramps down to 140F when the item is done all I see is a digital controller from Bradley that can be either a PID or a contact-points controller.   If it is PID and they are not stating so then someone at Bradley should be fired.  The lack of ramp down will put Bradley in the back seat even if their controller is PID.

It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

I am certainly reserving judgement, what we really need is an experienced BS user "upgrading" to the new one to provide some constructive feedback for the rest of us.

Perhaps someone who has added to their BS by way of a temperature controller to get a true comparison?

There is only a £40 ($65) increase on the 4 rack digital model compared to the old black 4 rack model, it makes you wonder if anything has been sacrificed on build quality to achieve this, I wonder if it is being made by the same Chinese manufacturer?

It would also be nice to have a clear indication they have addressed the puck advance issue found on the old generator on occasions on the new model.

I emailed John Watkins a fair while ago to ask if the new smoke generator could be used on the old smoke boxes, have yet to receive a reply.

I'm just as much in the dark as the rest of you & I'd be surprised if John isn't in the same boat.

The day we get our shipment, I'll be ripping one open & planning a few smoke tests. I'll certainly report back the findings.

Think a lot of members will look forward to your comments Chez, was'nt intending to criticise John in any way, he is always good to email back when he has the answers. I too am sure the lack of a response is only down to the fact he does'nt have any answer yet.

Do you know if they are discontinuing the old models?

I will buy this new one and put it next to the older model.I like the fact it has 6 racks.And im sure there will be a advantage with the temp control.So kirk keep me on that preorder list and ill have a few others who are waiting for this newer model to come out instead of buying a old one.For me the frist model is doing great so i really think this next model will be the same results and thats what counts.Great Smoked food.You old timers here know more about these pids temp guages etc.For me its an upgrade and im sure as happy as i am with the old one this new one will be just fine.On the puck advance im sure they looked into that. As all you guys have said here if they have a problem with there units the good customer service and warrantees will kick in.So no worries.Its not like there just putting a new lable on it and passing it on as a new model the upgrades seem fine to me but hell what do i know im still a rookie here.[:D]
