I like to smoke the turkey at 250 F,,,if you cant get your smoker that high just set it on high and go from there

Smoke it for 2 or 3 hr,,,,,,,,I like Apple or Alder

After the smoke finish in the oven just like mom use to do

The time in the oven will depend on the size of the bird

Pull outta the oven (I use TBE) when the IT of the breast hits 165 F

Tent with some foil and let rest for at least 20 before carving,,,,the IT will rise wile resting

TBE (The Big Easy) is an infrared cooking system,,,,think oil-less turkey fryer

I just did a 24lbs Turkey for Thanksgiving, I brine it overnight in a mix of brown suger, apple juice, salt and spices, then into my smoker at 220 F, at 3:30am I load 4 to 5 hours of smoke. I pull the bird out of the smoker around 160 F and into the oven to crisp the skin at 350 F for about 30 min.  The turkey has always turned out great.

Well you made go buy The Big Easy! Since you said I Had have one to smoke the turkey properly. At least that's what I told the wife. ;)Was wondering how long you think the turkey will take in it?I plan on smoking it for about 3or 4 hours.then putting it in TBE.Need it done by 4 so I'm trying to plan it right. It's a 17lb  bird.

I always finish Tukey or Chicken in SRG and they turn out great.  I have friends who finish in oven and they say it drys out the meat a little bit.
