I am installing a Maverick ET-73 Thermometer in my Original Smoker. Where does the transmitter go? Thanks

owrstrich

coot...

i set the transmitter on top the smoke box and run the temp probes thru the smoke vent...

i try to make sure the box probe isnt touching the meat... racks... box... anything...

i try to stick the meat probe in the thickest part of the meat usually on the next to top rack depending on what im smoking at the time...

you gotta eat...

Welcome, Coot!  An alternative is to place the transmitter next to the box (if you've set it on a table or platform) and run the cable into the unit via the door.  The cable is thin enough that door seal can close around it without a gap.  If my BS is on the ground, however, I definitely go through the top vent.

I hope these gadgets work well!  After reading this post I jumped over to another web site and ordered one up - can't wait to try it! ;D
