hello
I am going to try and smoke 3 pork butts and was curious how many bisquetts should I use and where should I position the damper. I know it's probably subject to taste but what is the recommended bisquette flavor.

Is there a recommended formula for how much smoking to how much cooking ( IF I COOK 12 HOURS HOW MANY HOURS SHOULD I SMOKE)

Tiny Tim

Damper at least half open, if not all the way.  Smoke any length of time you want, but many around here stop the smoke after 4 hours/12 bisquettes.

i would not go more then 4 hours or 12 bisquets on somke

Pork butt can take a LOT of smoke.  All about personal preference, but I go more than 4 on butts usually depending on my supply of briquettes :)
Start with 4 and see what you think.

4 hours is a good stopping point for now. See how you like it and go from there. I've smoked longer and really didn't notice much of a differance. That's just me though.

Thanks guy's I think you've given me a good starting point. Not to start friction but special thanks to STLstyle, your tips will come in handy while I make meals as we march toward another championship game in March (ROCK Chalk) LOL

Sailks, I wish we were still in the same conference.  I appreciate what is, and what I hope remains, the "most hated" rivalry in sport.  I will enjoy watching your team lose in the first round or in the finals :)

I agree, as I'm watching now. You need to grab the lead before Pressey plays the second half and gives it away. Your lucky  Colorado St. isn't that accounting school Norfork St.
