Firstly....doing three nice big fat fish..and last time I tried fine grinding some black pepper with some very dark demerara sugar and dusted the fish prior to smoking...and tell you what...man, that is yummy. So, of course, have repeated the method.

Now...that was part one....part two isn't so fine reading. I see a poster has a door falling off issue and isn't a happy customer...I thought that maybe I was alone in this regard, and am kind of grateful too see others not so thrilled. Mine is not door problems but that damned heat heat sensor and wire. My sensor came right out of the back, so now I had to buy another, plus a new wire..and somehow..I am thinking this should not be happening and if doors fall off or sensors go haywire, Bradley should do a couple things. One..is get concerned because word of mouth (YouTube) will kill them. Another things is just mail new parts out to customers. If the units are built with as much pride as they claim...look after us, the customers.

Just my two bits on what I am sure is a touchy subject.

Gary if your unit is less than a year old then it should still be under warranty. Unless you have modified it. I would suggest that you contact Bradley Customer Support. They will get things straightened out for you.

No..it is two years old, so I wasn't expecting any coverage. My thoughts were/are, that in this day and age..when information travels like a brushfire, with a known fault or weak spot..ie:doors or heat sensors and wire, that the 'head office' should first off, send parts without hesitation and without charges. They KNOW that there is a problem, eh...and secondly...fix the problem at source.

These things will cause customers to shop elsewhere for their next smoker and that customer will also talk about their Bradley experiences. The Bradely name is a strong one, but to keep it so, they need to take care of business. Now..I can't claim to be a sales guru, being retired from the working world, but I write a Blog and I see others doing similar..and Facebbok is there too. Bradley wants people to sell the product line and we do....why cheap out and piss us off?

Being 2 years old do you have the black door or the black door with the smoke on it?

Chris, if he has the sensor cable I'm fairly confident he has the digital model.

Gary, would you like to sell that smoker?

garyhaupt

Yes, it's the digital model. Would I like to sell the smoker? hhmmm...what an interesting question. Let's see...I paid 400 for it, and then I have the cold smoke attatchment at 100. So..for 500 plus you pay the shipping? you bet. Plus I have a new sensor wire, the original one has failed,  and the sensor itself, that just pulled out of the back of the box. Oh, and an extra plug for the electrical sensor that you put in when cold smoking.

I don't think you'll get much interest at that price.  The 4-rack digital is $349 on Amazon and the cold smoke adapter is $71.  Both have free 2-day shipping with Amazon Prime.

He lives in Canada, try and get that price in Canada and you will sheet your pants at the cost.

My 2 cents

Bradley is concerned and in most cases bends over backwards to help their customers.

Youtube will not damage Bradley.

I have no interest in purchasing a 2 year old damaged smoker, much less paying full retail for it.  I was going to suggest that if you were so displeased with your smoker that you felt it necessary to post essentially the same thread twice that perhaps you could offer it for sale in the "For Sale, Trade or Barter" section of this forum and relieve yourself of your displeasure.

garyhaupt

And now that we have disposed of the 'offer to buy'.........

I didn't say I was displeased with my Bradley..I said, and still say...that there are issues with it and that the company could work towards resolving those, plus they ought to acknowledge those by just sending out the needed replacement parts when requested by a customer. I mean...look at the comments about the sensor wire..and doors falling off. These are legitimate concerns that could be dealt with in a much better manner than what is currently happening.

Hell..when I phoned to place the sensor parts order..the phones were not being answered for a week due to stock taking...but there was no recorded message to that effect. Just the hours that they 'would' take the call...but didn't. I happened to find the CDN office number and got a person that told me what was going on and a week later, I called and ordered.

A guy asked me last night, during dinner, after my sharing of experiennces, what smoker I would recommened. I told him the Bradley has that digital set-up and puck feeder that allows me to wander off for 9 hours. THAT is fabulous. Said that despite my mentions, the Bradley was good smoker. But there is a problem and it should be addressed.

And woe betide those companies that downplay the 'Net word of mouth. They have this Forum and website, don't they? That's not to give people something to do on their time off, it's because people research things all of the time.

And I smoked three fat salmon yesterday for nine hours and today I will Food Saver bag them. Just because I make what I feel to be valid comments, does not mean that I don't like and use the smoker.

I must have missed someone making an 'offer to buy'.

That said, you win, I lose, I surrender, white flag is waving.

In order to assist you one final time, check the members list.  There is a member titled Bradley (Home Office).  Perhaps you could send them a PM from your forum page.  It will land directly on Brian's computer.  You will bypass all the other folks in the chain of command and have an opportunity to rectify your situation or at least air your viewpoint.

I wish you well and bid you peace.  I've done all I can do and am finished with this thread.

My Bradley six rack has treated me well with no problems what so ever for the last three years. I've seen several people  get exceptional warranty service from Bradley that come on this forum even after their warranty was up. Those people came in a manner that was not threatening with youtube videos and threats. Sometimes a little sugar will sweeten the cake :)

garyhaupt

You are right, I am wrong. How I could have been so mistaken is beyond me. I have learned my lesson kids and will never have anything to say that might in anyway be construed as anything other than cheerleading.

Gary I dont believe the guys are making any personal attacks. I think they just being defensive to the way you came infiring with both guns. This is probably one of the most helpful forums that you will come across on the internet. The guys were put off, because you came in saying how bloggers and such would/should be talking about the evils of the Bradley smoker. Without anyone having an opportunity to help you resolve your situation. I know I asked which smoker you owned. I had asked this, because the engineers at Bradley do listen to our suggestions. The original Black door Bradley was redisgned and incorporated suggestions from the forum. Did they use all of them? No, but they used a few.
Manufacturers are at the whim of the suppliers. For a while there was a rash of bad elements in the smokers. Bradley changed suppliers and that problem worked itself out. Then there was a rash of broken plastic door pieces. Over tightened screws in the manufacturing process. That seems to have started to finally work its way out. What I am trying to say is we here on the forum have seen just about every problem come to life. We have also seen the folks at Bradley provide excellent customer service in responce to these problems. That would be IMHO why the bristles go up and the guys get defensive in situations like this.
