Work Christmas party, were doing a pot luck and well I'm always expected to wow people. I am however new to smoking, and I was trying to think of a cost effective protien to smoke, for several people. It is a pot luck so it doesn't need to be a decent portion for each person just a small part of their overall meal.

I was considering chicken wings, but in all honesty they are not that cheap, but I will check around. I was considering pork loin chops which might not be a bad option but then everyone would need knives and forks not sure that works either. Anyway if someone has a few ideas I'd love to hear them.

Pulled pork is an easy and cheap way to handle your mission. It's a simple cook that you can do all in the Bradley or smoke and move to oven or crock pot. You can do it ahead of time and just heat up for the pot luck in a crock pot. You can serve it a couple of different ways with the crock pot, you can put some apple juice in to keep it moist and put the sauce bottle next to it so people control their sauce or you can mix the sauce in and be done. I did 2 pork shoulders totaling 15 lbs for my wife's quilt guild meeting put in crock pot lightly sauced, with extra sauce on the side and the packaged Hawaiian rolls to make little sliders and none came home. Others will be along with their ideas, tips and methods, pick one that will work for you have fun with it and then sit back and reap the praise at the pot luck.

Saber types faster than me - but I would also suggest a nice pulled pork. You can do it a few days ahead of time and reheat in a couple of crock pots.

Pulled pork, and get little rolls and call them sliders. People are more likely to try because it is a small portion, but this might actually get more mileage out of the meat.
I just spent $12 K on this Honda Accord! Why can't it tow my boat?!?

Pulled pork is also what I would recommend.

Yep Pulled Pork is the easiest. But you could also do pulled beef - Chuck roast smoked to an IT of 208-210 then FTC and shred. You could also do Pulled Chicken - broiler chicken smoked until 175 in breast 185 in thigh. FTC and shred add a scant amount of bbq sauce while warming up. Discard chicken skin after FTC

hmm yeah pulled pork is an obvious one, my issue is I prettymuch introduced them to it and have done it a few times, however I didn't do it smoked. I guess my issue would be then I'd need to find a pork shoulder that hasn't been smoked already?

Smoked would be much better than what you've done for them before, but if you want something different that would really wow them then you might look into the posts on Fatty's, which are bacon wrapped bundles of greatness with anything from ground sausage to ground beef seasoned and formed into a log around some other tasty ingredients of your choosing then encased in the aforementioned bacon weave then into the smoker and a quick finish in the oven to crisp up the bacon if needed then slice and serve. Or you could go with a more traditional beef brisket.

As for you comment about finding a shoulder that hasn't already been smoked, I'm not sure I understand as I always buy my shoulders fresh at the store and smoke them myself????

You can also do mooink balls. Frozen meatballs wrapped with bacon sprinkled with a good rub. Smoked till bacon is crisp and coat with a good BBQ sauce or like I prefer melted hot pepper jelly. There are a ton of variations.

thanks for the replies I think I have decided on doing pulled pork, but to change it up I'm gonna make pulled pork tacos.
