Nice.  Looks much better than the Mexican dish I had at a local joint last night.

Coyote, not sure but looks like the late night post is getting to you.  LOL
NePa is the empanada King.

NePa, did any of the smoke flavor come through or did the frying mask the flavor?

I thought that while they were smokin. When i started to fry them i could smell the smoke, they really turned out good. I fry in lard to eliminate the polyunsaturated garbage. Must be my spanish roots  ;D

My mom tought me alot of mexican and tex/mex cooking.

Here is the recipe for the empanadas.

1 pnd lean gb
salt to taste
1 large spoon full of sofrito added to the cooked gm
yellow/white turnover crusts (you can buy goya frozen if you cant make em)
cheese (opt)

roll out the tortilla to about 6/7" put gm in middle (however much you like) fold over and seal ends with fork. Fry in lard until golden bron appears in the skin.....done. They freeze very good also

I will post the sofrito recipe in the non smoked foods.
