I just received this email from a Vanilla producer. Please read.

SUPPORT CACAO (CHOCOLATE) GROWERS

Just below the above article is a post about our beloved chocolate.  The Chocolate Manufacturers Association (CMA) is petitioning the FDA to change the current law requiring products labeled "chocolate" to have cocoa butter or chocolate liquor in it.  The CMA would like for chocolate-coated candies and bars to be labeled "chocolate" even if vegetable oil is substituted for the cocoa butter or chocolate liquor.

Guittard Chocolate, a family business that produces high quality chocolate used by many confectioners including Sees Candies, has created a web site for people to voice their opinions on this proposed change in the law. We have until June 25th to express our opinions. Go to: www.DontMessWithOurChocolate.com. There is a link that will take you directly to the FDA site where we can type in our comments.

Go to www.patriciarain.blogspot.com and scroll to the Support Cacao Growers entry for more information and to read what I posted.  Please do post your objection to this proposed change. We deserve to know whether or not we're getting real chocolate in products and the cacao growers need our support as well.
