Just bought my SS BS today and as I'm cleaning the pieces and preparing to put it together, I notice a crack about 3 inches long in the flat plastic bottom (Just below where the door seals. You only see it when the door is open).
Part of me says, for 400 bucks the thing should be perfect.  Another part of me says, I don't think this affects performance at all.  It's not causing it to not seal etc...  Then again, does it mean it was dropped?

What should I do?

P.S.  I'm trying to include a pic, but when I hit Insert Image, I just get [img], I thought it would let me choose the path of where the pic is located???

Paul,

That crack is common & Bradley needs to reinforce it somehow. it will only cause you issues if liquid is allowed to not be contained & drip out the front, damaging the electronics on the temp control board.

I would suggest a call to them & they will send you a replacement no problem.

Ya think next time I check into a hotel & they ask "Smoking or Non?" they would mind?

Thanks for the info Kirk.  Is there an 800 #?  All I can find on the website are email addresses.

800-665-4188. Ask for Cassandra, she's top notch.

I emailed and Casssandra wrote me back and included the 800#.  She's sending a new faceplate, although I was looking at the crack again, and it's pretty much just a cosmetic thing.  I put a dab of 5-minute epoxy so that if a bunch of liquid did run down there like you were saying, it won't go inside where the temp control is.

On another note, I just got done seasoning it.  At first I couldn't get the temp up to 150 with it between Low and Med like it says in the instructions, so I cranked it up, but then it was like 190.  I kept turning it down and even off but the temp wouldn't drop. (Plus opening the door and venting)  Not sure if the temp control is a little screwy, or maybe the thermometer isn't real accurate and I need to buy a separate one???

Thanks for your help.  I'm about to order some Bubba Pucks off your site. [:D]

Dubl07- You're more likely to have a dud of a thermometer. Most here have their own thermometers (Polder, Maverick etc). The one in the door is more like a decoration and should not be relied upon to provide an accurate reading. If you have a relatively accurate oven thermometer you can use that in a pinch.

Thanks for the info Cold Smoke.  I did a search on the forum and looked over the thermometer threads.  Looks like I'm gonna get me a Maverick. (Kirk, maybe you should carry these on your site?  I would have snagged one along w/ the Bubba Pucks I just ordered! [:p])
