I have a 6lb and 7lb butt. Can I put them on the same rack?

They seem to fit with about an inch all the way around.

Hi there, you could put them on the same rack, but imo you'd be better seperating them, as this will allow the heat and smoke to flow better.

When smoking/cooking with BS, i've found it's best not to have too much obstruction, especially where heat is concerned, as you could get a build up of heat below the obstruction, and in extreme cases if the heat can't escape quick enough, the rising temp could cause a fire with dripping fat!

If you're in doubt, i would say do them on seperate racks  ;)

Two racks would be best, but if there is about 1" clearance between the two and neither of the butts will touch the walls you are good to go. As they cook there will be a fair amount of shrinkage. I have place two butts on the same tray and every thing turn out find. It also saves on cleanup. :)

I would place them on the second position from the bottom.
