I have a passion for many types of motor sports. One of my favorites is F1. There is so much technology and strategy involved. The actual race may not be that exciting but it hard to comprehend how much skill the drivers have. I found this think that allowed some one to test a modern F1 race car which I found very interesting. I used to race open wheel Formula Fords which have a 210 horse power to ton ratio. A F1 car has a ratio of 1500 horse power to ton rating!

My first love is dirt...played around with a Hobby Stock for about 5 years before it all but bankrupted me.  I prefer the fenders when watching on TV, but if an F1 race is on when I'm stumbling through the channels, I'll stop and watch.  General rule of thumb is, if they got wheels and engines, and there are 2 or more of them, I'll watch it.

What I follow closest though, is the top 3 series' of NASCAR.

Thanks for a place to post this, Brad.

For a hobby as a young man I designed and built my own 40" outrigger. It was powered by twin inboard nitro K&B (re-ported) 7.5cc / .45 cubic inch water cooled engines. (See image below.)Stock they created 4.4 hp. RPMs 25,000. After the re-porting it was closer to 5.5 hp and the RPMs were well over 30,000 if I remember correctly. She ran in the upper 90s (mph.) That may not sound fast until you consider the scale of the boat. The boat had so much power I had to run dual servos on the rudder.

K&B 7.5

It was a fun item to run. But in those days money for fuel and up keep was always a major problem. I ran through the engines 30% nitro which was not cheap.

This is an image of a single engine outrigger boat. Notice the tune-pipe is a side mount where mine were directly out the back.

EDITAs I said I had a great time with that boat, but the most fun I ever had was a 24" airboat with wheels. It was funny to go a boat ramp and stand in line to launch it. People would stop launching their boats to watch this R/C go down the ramp.

I am also a big F1 fan.  There is nothing in the world like it.  I watch all the races live, so I am up all night for the Japan, Dubai, and Sepang races.  Nice to find another fan.....

I'm just like you. I'll get up at 1:00 AM to watch a race. F1 is pushing for night races so that all the races will be at the same time. I believe there is one race at night this year.

I know you have the bug. A supercharged MG Midget. It's a cool boat.

Can you post some pictures? Dirt is great. World rally cars are great.
