First, let me say that my Sons Eagle scout application was accepted 2 days before his birthday.

The troop went camping at Port Canaveral to try to catch the shuttle launch.

We drove up (2 hours and change) with birthday cake as sort of a surprise.

We arrived at the camp and there was no one there but us, the scouts and leaders were still over at the space center.

They ended up being later that they estimated, so I cranked up the grill and started cooking burgers and dogs for the 40 people that were due to get back to camp hungry and tired.

By the time they arrived I had half the burgers and dogs in an improvised warmer. They were much appreciated.

So after the burgers and dogs were gone the whole troop sang happy birthday!

Then we drove the 2 hours home.

It was chilly (50F) but windy as all get out 15-20 with gusts. It made driving a high-profile vehicle into an aerobic event.

...But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

Less than five percent of beginning Scouts achieve Eagle.

Congratulations to your son for a major accomplishment and milestone.

A National Distinguished Eagle once told me, "Boys whose dads participate do better."

I know that FLBentrider participated heavily.

Way to go Dad,

Well Done to both Dad and Son. It might not seem like much to him now but that Eagle Scout designation on a job application will do him a world of good and take him far.
