Hello, I just unpacked my new smoker and I am seasoning it and it's starting to generate smoke and the door doesn't seem to have a tight seal on the top.  Smoke is coming out of the top of the door seal and also the vent on the top....

How is everyone elses door seal?

FLBentRider

Mine leaks a little. Sometimes.

I would check the seal and make sure there is not a crease in it.

It should soften up a little as the unit heats up.

The seal is an area that you will want to clean after each smoke.

Make sure you do NOT have the top vent closed. Smoke will back up into your smoke generator destroying it over time.

Timo,
If you've got the vent closed all the way you may be forcing the smoke to exit through a slight opening of the door seal.  Get the vent open at least 50%.

That may cure your door seal smoke leak.  You want that vent open 50-100% pretty much all the time.

ditto, keep the vent open. And welcome to the forum.
