Cinnamon Sugar Pecans

I made this up - with the help of Virginia Peanuts website - a couple years ago. 
If you have ever bought those nuts from a vendor at the mall or at an event, this recipe is very similar to that.

First, begin with 1 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of water, and 2 cups of pecans.  The amount of cinnamon you want to use depends on what you want.



Stir the sugar, water, and cinnamon together over heat until it turns to a thickened syrup.  Add the pecans and stir constantly, covering them.

Pour the mixture on a cookie sheet - CRG do NOT use the wife's good cookware - in a single layer.

Put in the oven at 300 degrees for 30 minutes.  Flip/rotate the pecans every 10 minutes.

Let them cool, and ENJOY!

I'd put a silpat mat under the nuts - it would probably make cleaning that ware easier.

A silpat is a silicone mat kinda like the high temp screens

I like the idea of using a silpat. A silpat is a non-stick mat that is about the size of a cookie sheet. It's made from fiberglass and coated with silicon. If you don't have one; parchment paper will also work.

Oh! I forgot to mention the pecans look great and I will have to give them a try.

I use it to keep my atomic peanut brittle from becoming one with the pan, among other things.

added to my Thanksgiving list! 

I rarely use my silpats and usually use parchment for everything but this is one recipe that the silpat would work better.
