I had one go 22 hours as well, and that was in the dead of summer.

Well, at least this gives you time to stop... reflect... and name an heir to that butt...

Yup, at this rate I'll done way before that butt will!

I bought a package of 2 butts last week, about 19 pounds i think. Did an overnight smoke, put them in about 4:30pm, smoked for 4 hours, changed out the water bowl and went to bed. Strangely enough the one on the top rack got to 190 at 11am the next day. The one at the bottom that is usually the first did not get to 190 until 2pm! Blame the pig not the cooker!

Believe me, the pig is at fault! It's always his fault.  :D

Well, be sure to shred it and eat it, as an example to the other butts...  ;)

So when do we get to see the 'baby' pictures??
The fight isn't over until the winner says it is.

OK, it hit 190 after 27 hours and the fork said it's done. Here's a couple pics and it's resting right now for a while before I pull it. By the way, the bark is pretty darned tasty!  ;D

Thanks for all the kind words every one!

My last "marathon butt" taught me to plan 1 day ahead of any "event". When you think that 16 hours is perfect, here comes that stubborn butt! Cook, smoke, vac seal, and be the hero later!

The good guys always win. That butt looks great. I've been reading this since the first post and I had my money on you. ;D

Looks awesome Hawkeye, nice color.

I had my money on the butt...
It's ok.. I don't really need any new winter shoes....

Sorry about the winter shoes Hal. I was thinking I could have sent you this piece of pig for new soles before it got done. But by the time it's all over, the SOP (Son Of Pig) was pretty darned good. Some of the best bark on Q that I've had!  ;D

No biggie.
I can cross the frozen Illinois tundra barefoot...
Ya win some... Ya lose some...  right?

Getting beat by a dadgum pig is what hurts.

After fighting that SOP for 27 hours, did you think I might let him win? Hell No!!  :D

I knew who was gonna win...
I just figgered you'd have a better chance at consuming the prize if something else was tied to the whipping post ;-)
