Pork Shoulder New York Cut ( translation please )

I seem to be learning a new language ....   LOL
Saw some pork butt ( shoulder new york cut )
I need a  translation to what this is?

New York's answer to Boston Butt ?
Good for pulled pork or sausage or something else altogether ?

Merci  ( left over french from last weekend )
All I wanted to do was slow smoke some ribs.  Another addiction created thanks to the Bradley that requires regular servicing...  But what an addiction to have.  Even better to share here with some of the best people on the planet.

Hmmm..

What did it look like ?

Did it have a bone, one that was perhaps sticking out ?

I'm thinking it may be cut closer to the shank end.

My understanding is that the shank end is better for slicing than pulling, but I know there have been some here that pulled it.

Like FBR said, it is probably the picnic and the butt combo and some of the butt meat trimmed off.

I found this definition, does it make sense ?

New York Style Shoulder—This cut consists of the full length shoulder cut two to two and one-half ribs wide and butted approximately two inches above top end of blade bone. Leg cut off just above knee joint.

Would it be a good candidate for pulled pork ?
All I wanted to do was slow smoke some ribs.  Another addiction created thanks to the Bradley that requires regular servicing...  But what an addiction to have.  Even better to share here with some of the best people on the planet.

In a word, yes.

Sounds like it is both the boston butt and the picnic.

I thought it was pretty good for up here

Price difference between picnic and Bst butt is 15 to 20 cents here.

If you read the post the picnic I smoked was good just didn't "pull"
had to 'Chop" it

Some of my family liked it better.
