Hi Friends,  I am so excited.  My Christmas present to myself just arrived.  I have been reading tips and comments on this forum in anticipation of the smoker's arrival.  Now that it's here, I wanted to ask if anyone had any good unpacking and installation tips.  Perhaps something you learned when you unboxed yours?  I will be heading to the store for some brisket soon as well for my first smoker attempt.  This is great!  Can't wait.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome Steve!
You will have many brothers and sisters of the forum from TX.  First tip for you is make sure that all of the connections are firmly in place.  When you power it up and see an E1 error, that most likely means that the thin sensor cord that goes from the back of the smoke generator to the tower is not properly connected.  Unplug the cord and replug at both ends several times if necessary in order to make a good connection.  Next, season your BDS properly before your first cooking smoke.  The steps to properly season the BDS are in the manual.

Others will come along soon with more info for you.  Have fun and don't be afraid to ask questions!

Welcome to the forum. When I unpacked mine, I layed it down flat, opened the bottom flaps, stood it back up, and lifted the box off. Didn't need a knife or anything.

Welcome to the fun scaissc.

A couple more things to keep in mind, NEVER smoke or cook with the vent closed. It might sound backwards but keeping the vent closed keeps all the moisture in and it will start to build up inside and drip back on your food, which aint very tasty. Also if you see water dripping out the door you need to open the vent, the condensation caused from having the vent closed to far can back up in the generator and cause problems. If you see smoke coming from the generator open the vent more. I never close mine more than half way.

One other thing is that you dont need smoke rolling the whole time your product is in the smoker. It will only need 3 to 4 hr smoke then the rest of the time your are just cooking.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Oh ya be warned this type of smoking is very addictive
