Shoot son that's normal talk, you need to get in the back area's  of Bama and Georgia to really hear the red neck's.  But I tell you what, it took a yankee to come up with sofa king!
Now figure that word out and I'm not gonna tell you the real word  :-X but the wife got it in an email joke the other day! I don't want to be tossed out of the forum for bad words! :-X :-X :-X :-X :-X

Please do, I was raised in Alabama, but my Dad is from Detroit and Mom is from the Bronx. Now you talk about growing up in a great house. I lived with yankee's and talk like a red neck!  ;)  Nice thing though, Dad taught me how to cook real Italian food while I learned the best of southern food! Got the best of both worlds.  Boy I miss my Father, wish he was still with us.  :'(    He would love the this site and the cooks here!

I know, I am surprised that a southern boy didn't come up with it first.  ;D  Sounds like one would.

Dead on! Now I don't want to get into trouble with the forum but it was a funny email my wife got. Funny how you can make something out of nothing bad.

Peace,

One of my coworkers from Tennessee (Chattanooga) had transferred up here for a couple years.  One day we went to Walmart over lunch.  She told me to meet her over in cosmetics, as she was going to get a "buggy".   I gave her a look, and then she rolled her eyes and pointed to a shopping cart.  AHA!
It has been years since I have been able to travel to Tennessee for work, and I miss it.  It is so beautiful, and WARM.

You haven't heard strange English until you go to the rural areas of Maine where they talk "Yankee". You really need a translator. I have a book on "How to Talk Yankee", I'll try to see if I can find it.

... and I've still never seen a non-Southerner who can pronounce "y'heah" correctly (as in "Y'all come back now, y'heah").

Good stuff.  Just watch Paula Dean on the food network.  You'll learn how to add AWL to your pan or BALL water.  The latter is kinda difficult.

Ka Honu your right, neither Mom or my late Father could say "Y'haeh" and they lived in Alabama for over 40 + years.  Both were Yankee's by the way.  :-X   But I ain't saying another word !
