We had the same crap happin to us last year with our sweet corn. My fault for plantin it so close to the road, wont do that again.

I'd say the crooks got away with over half of our crop, my bets are it was one person but I cant say cause I didnt see him doin it. Hes the black sheep of the family down the road aways.

The heck with that run you a Hot Wire. Make sure it is rated for 20 miles or better. You will know exactly when they enter the garden or field!!

Warning: Do Not use grounded paint sprayers around wire. If you get too close and an arc is created you WILL have a Blow Torch in your hand and more than likely a load in your shorts!!

Plant the row closest to the road as field corn and/or popcorn, not sweet corn.    Hope he has a good dentist..   ;D

Most folks don't have a problem if you knock on the door and ask either. Especially when there is a big field of it. At least around here one doesn't have any problems.

Had some Asian friends who lived in SF.  They had a problem with someone stealing fruit from their trees.  Simple solution.  Dig punji pit.  Add cover that a cat can't break thru but a human can.  Wait.  After a week the cover was broken thru and some sticks were bloody.  End of problem.   ;D ;D
