Not a good past couple of days for me.....  Sat. my neighbor backed into my car.  It only minor and she is going to pay for it but its still a hassle...  Then today I come home to find that my roof is leaking....  Ugh!!!!  I have had a few estimate a couple months back b/c my roof is 15yrs old and original and the quotes ranged from 8K to 11k.....   Ahhh the joys of owning a home.  All this come 2 month after I replaced my A/C unit.

Sorry to rant guys, but I do feel a little better.  Not sure if its from this or the beers I have been throwin' back...

Any chance of you having hail (or wind) damage from a storm or two over the past couple of years? I had a water stain appear last year and thought WT?. Mowing the yard on a Friday off I had a guy walk up passing out fliers for his roofing company. He walked back to his truck and got his ladder and inspected my roof. Hail damage! And it cost me my deductable and any upgrades I went for. Maybe $900-$1200. Good luck!

snelly, i can be sympathetic to the troubles you  are having,  and am sorry to hear of your troubles, 21 months ago, early December of 2008   due to a construction mis- hap that  broke  the  slab of my  home and destroyed  it as well as making the surrounding  ground to unstable to rebuild. so i lost my  home and land, the  city  did step in and tole me to go out and find a  new  home end of  December.

mid January made an offer  on a  short sale home  that took me and my  family  6 months to get into, when we  finally  started the  move and got pods over  here, one was broken in to ,,, and  our next door neighbor also backed into our car taking  out the ac and denting the radiator.

long story short  been there done that and  you  will get  through it,,, just  like me and my  family  did

Wow, I was feeling pretty bummed because I found ants in my basement.   Sorry to hear that.

Snelly, I'm with FLBR - just hang in there.  I don't want to depress you with my problems.

Did you ever notice that critical equipment only fails on Sundays or legal holidays  ??? :-\

Snelly, have you had a hail storm in the past year or so?  Always a good way to get the roof replaced.

1977.  Houston, Texas.  Got robbed at knife point.  Guns sound scarier than knives, but when you've been robbed by both...  You know which one is most terrifying.  And, it ain't the gun.  Had enough gas to get to Surfside, TX, with some fumes left over.  You don't head in any particular direction when you can't think at all; you just roll.  Sometimes, you just park at a beach, and make yourself at home, because it is home.  They have mosquitoes down there.  It really doesn't matter how hard you're sweating; it ain't worth cracking a window; little devils fly in mobs, and they will eat you alive.  They have no more sense of decency than a Houston thug.

Then, as if God himself placed them there, you see folks that need your help.  So, you help them.  Somehow, this makes you forget the pain of being very, very hungry and how very, very empty your pockets are, and how very, very far away from home you are.  Anyhow, I knew that guy, and he swore to me that it ain't never as bad at it seems.  But, then again, he was an idiot

Hope this random verbage brightens your day.   ;D

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys.  As for hail, we are not know for to many hail storms here in Florida.  Just hoping a hurricane (small one) will come this way and blow some shingles off...

Beef- Glad things are looking up for you.  Man you must have been stressed out for a while...

You really may have gotten hail damage.  I live in Boynton Beach and a few months ago we got a hail storm.   It hailed so hard the sidewalk was covered with 1/4 stones.  This far south it is rare that we get hail but if conditions are right we do get it.  I don't think it would hurt any to contact a roofer and ask him to inspect for hail damage.  You never know what he will come up with.

Shhhhhhhhhhh on those hurricanes. Of all of the hurricanes that I have been thru why is it the eye comes over at night.  Never could figure that out.  Dealing with a frantic wife during the storm is something that every man should have to experience.   :o

Chin up snelly.

I used to rant all the time about the littest things that were to me, big things.

Then I got asked to teach a guy how to shoot an airgun. Sure I said. Well he showed up in a handicap van that he drove with a joystick and was a 'quad'(those were his words not mine). He even had his girlfriend with him. She had Polio and could barely walk. He could not cock the airgun so she did it for him. Then I would lay it across a make shift bench I whipped up that would attach to his wheelchair. I would get the airgun aimed pretty close for him and then help him get close to it so he could pull the trigger. He had to use his thumb hooked into the trigger guard and actually pull using his bicep since that was the only muscle he had much control of.

He shot for hours and had a great time jacking with me for being so completely ignorant of people with handicaps. It was fun hanging around him and he was past the stage of being depressed.

The next week he brought several of his friends with him and they were all in various stages of mentality. Turns out he was a mentor to them to help them cope with the disability.

He told me after a few weeks that he would probably not be able to visit too much longer. His words again(ones I will never forget) "Us quads have continuing problems with our bladder and backside so I expect to be in a hospital before too long and may not make it out. Thank you for making my time here fun!"

I'm not bothered by much anymore.
The fight isn't over until the winner says it is.
