How cold is too cold for the Smoke Generator?

It's 9F with a stiff breeze and no problem with the cabinet temperature, but I just discovered the smoke generator stopped working about an hour ago. Pushing the puck advance did nothing. Turning it of and on did nothing. The red power light was on, and as I said, the cabinet was fine also. I'm sure the SG heat element was still working.

So I brought it inside and after it warmed up, it is just fine.

Just to clarify based on another thread I just read: although I use the bubba pucks, I hadn't put them on the pile of bisquettes yet. On the other hand, I was doing an 8 hour smoke so I started with 24 pucks loaded. It stopped about 2/3.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Rich

The coldest I have every smoked was 15°F. I had this problem once, but only when the smoker was first turned on. After that occurred, when I planned a smoke on a cold day, I would leave the generator off and preheat the cabinet for awhile. This seemed to warm up the generator, and once it warmed up I would then turn the generator on. Once it was running I never had a problem during the smoke.
