Just ordered my new 6 rack smoker today through amazon paid $429.00 good deal? What is the best way to season it? What would you guys suggest be the first smoke? Are these bubba packs a good investment? Is it true that each  Bisquette last about 20 min? so if I want to smoke something for 3 hours I need 9.

Welcome aboad swipernoswiping. The instructions with the smoker go over seasoning and it is also somewhere on this site. Someone with more patience will find it for us. I think most smoke a chicken first as it is cheaper and pretty forgiving. Bubba pucks will save you some bisquettes and some hassle. The smoke generator cycles every 20 minutes and the bisquette is pretty well spent in that amount of time.

Oh, for three hours of smoke, my math says 9.

Good luck and we look forward to pics of your first smoke.

$429 is a good deal, by me they are running $549.

Page 14 describes the seasoning process, but basically clean all your racks, trays, and bowls. Put all back in smoker. Load the feed tube with 5 bisquettes, open the damper, set the smoke timer for 1 hour and the oven temp for 150° for 1 hour.

Bubba pucks help presverve the last pucks remaining on your drive guide because they will start to burn even though they are not on the bisquette burner. They can be re-used, but it is just easier with the bubba pucks.

Yes the pucks burn for 20 minutes each but you need 2 extra to push the last puck onto the burner  (hence the bubba puck).

Did not expect these responses so quickly thanks! And yes socalbuilder your math is much better than mine thanks for that also. One more question would be actually two more were can I buy bubba pucks and where did you guys find has the best prices for the  Bisquettes?

KevinG

Amazon if you can wait, usually has some pretty good deals every now and again. We usually catch them and post them here on the forum when one of us finds a good deal. I bought my bubba pucks from ebay, but I know BigJohnT makes some pretty fancy ones and I believe Yard and Pool sells the regular ones.

Yard and pool is kinda my go-to place. When I get like some of these guys that seem to smoke 24-7, I'll start looking for bargain bisquettes.

welcome aboard,

i would give the smoker a  once over  cleaning to remove and  residual oils from manufacturing and wash all the racks and v tray prior to seasoning.

good luck

See you can learn something on this forum. When my kids were young it was " Fraggle Rock" . I still have a bunch of VHS tapes of the show " Down at Fraggle Rock....."

Tenpoint5 you are up on your kid shows. With my oldest it was Barney,Dora, Dora is not as obnoxious.Just want to again thank-you guys for all your responses. I am a little nervous about this purchase. I am not the cook of the family wife is. I decided to get this smoker basically because my middle child and I do a lot of fishing and hunting. We have an amount of fish in the freezer that we caught this fall in the river mostly salmon and steelies When you catch them in the river, they tend to have a more of a fishy taste in them then when you catch them in a lake. We also have venison in the freezer we quartered up along with rabbit, squirrel, pheasant. I dont know if this will work but here is the link I ordered my Bradley from: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000FK09EW/ref=asc_df_B000FK09EW1354417?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=dealt53156-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395093&creativeASIN=B000FK09EW

Swiper You came to the right place. The folks around here will do everything they can to help you get the most out of your smoker and make it as enjoyable as possible. If you have questions just ask. We know there isn't any stupid questions CRG already asked all of them and Kynola will tell you he already asked  all of the dumb ones. So don't be afraid to ask we have ALL been there and somebody helped us so we are helping you.
