This reply now reflects the "running tally" and shows name, number in party, and arrival & departure dates.  I'll try to keep it updated.

Name                         No.           Arr.        Dep.
KyNola                        2             4/22       4/29
Ka Honu                      1             4/26       5/10
hal4uk                         2             4/26       4/29
classicrockgriller       2             4/26       4/29
ronbeaux                    2             4/27       4/29
SouthernSmoked      2             4/26       4/29
NePaSmoker              2             4/26       4/29
TMB                               2             4/26       4/28
La Quinta                    2              4/25       4/29

Nobody has added their name to the attendance list in several weeks.  This may be the closest to a "National Smokeout" we ever get and, like Woodstock, years from now people will claim to have been there when they weren't even in the same part of the country.  You don't want to miss this opportunity to be immortalized on film (or digital media) while making a complete fool of yourself in a place where that's considered normal behavior.

I'll claim I wuzn't there!
No sir.

Cool beans (that would be red beans, of course).

And now for the big question - should we try to make a lunch reservation for Wednesday or Thursday someplace?  If we're going to try to all have at least one meal together, I'd suggest lunch (since half of us will be too hammered to eat by dinner time) and recommend a reservation since there are so many of us.  Thoughts or suggestions?

That's an excellent idea.  Larry might have a good recommendation for WHERE.

Well

I am bringing goodies, i think sonny is to, so we could just do a room party for eats  :D

Ka Honu

NePaS - You know I can hammer your contributions with the best of them (or at least my human friend can), but I was thinking about something uniquely "New Orleans" for at least one meal. If we want to also keep with our common interest, we could go someplace like Cochon or Boucherie.

This may open up a huge discussion but we got to start somewhere.  If you want someplace with easy walking distance from the Sonesta(sorry Ka Honu) I can make some recommendations. If you want someplace that will require a cab ride I can make some other suggestions.

The only other question would be food preferences although most places I would recommend could pretty much cover whatever your likes or dislikes may be.

Edited--KH has already hit on one of my personal favorites, Cochon. Most likely a cab ride.

KH, did you know that part of the St. Charles streetcar line will be out of commission while we're there?  I think the section from Canal to Napoleon will be up and running when we are there.  If I can find the article I'll link it to you in a PM.

Edited--correcting the route that will be open when we're there

Looks like I'll be on the Magazine & Leonidas buses to get to Riverbend (They run sorta parallel to the streetcar).  Oh well.

ronbeaux

I changed my booking. Now staying down the street from the RS, on the same days as before. I got a good deal which leaves more money for bail.
The fight isn't over until the winner says it is.

My final semi-cogent pre-Mardi Gras party thought:  Someone should probably start a cell phone list via PM and then consolidate and send it out to everyone attending a week or so before the event.

Something along the lines of "NePaSmoker.....Rick & Crystal.....(987)654-3210."

Anybody want to be "someone?"

KyNola

I can do that.  If you want to be on the Krewe du Smoke cell phone call list, please PM me your cell phone number and I will compile a complete list and get it back to everyone in the form of a PM.

Dang, you a smart sea turtle. ;)
