For some reason, I have yet to see pork butt in my local Costco here in San Diego. What they always seem to have is a couple of shoulders packaged together. Craving some pulled pork and found a weekend I could do another all-nighter, I picked up a pack weighing in at 15.78 lbs.

Rubbed em up the night before with a little CYM and some Rub with Love pork seasoning. Into the OBS at 225* with 6 hours of hickory.

After 23 hours and an IT of 195*, here is one of them.

After about 4 hours of FTC, this boy just about fell apart. It was about the most moist and flavorful one I have had yet. I may just quit looking for the butts and stick with shoulders.

I'm thinking you've got butts.  I'm wondering if the Southern CA Costco name is "shoulder" because a butt is a cut of the shoulder.  At Sam's Club they package 2 butts together just like what you're buying.  With it falling apart like that and pulling so easy I think you're buying butts.  Besides, they sure look like butts to me.

Either way, nice going!

Yep them there is butt.

Some times called a shoulder blade roast, shoulder butt, boston butt, boston roast, boston shoulder roast.

Thats a great lookin pile of pork you got there.

Edit; misspelled a word.  ::)

Well whatever you call it, it tastes good. Funny, I just got a Costco ad and they show bone-in butts. I already have it on my calendar to go pick up a couple that week.

Those butts look great.  I can't find those butts at Costco here on the central coast ( San Luis Obispo ). Von's have them ,but they have been very pricey the past few weeks.  That pulled pork looks delicious.
